Keep Greene Beautiful, a Keep America Beautiful affiliate, was formed in April of 1986 to improve the appearance of Greeneville and Greene County. The organization works to achieve its goal of a cleaner and more beautiful community through educating children and adults on the importance of litter control and solid-waste practices. Keep Greene Beautiful is dedicated to maintaining a continuing litter control program, to promoting public interest in maintenance of a clean and beautiful environment, and to instilling environmental and solid waste management ethics.
Yard of the Month Contest
Nominate a Yard! Yard of the month recognizes citizens of Greene County who contribute to the overall aesthetics and health of our community by maintaining exceptionally clean and beautiful properties. Nominations for the program are open to the public May through July, volunteer judges will recognize a “Yard of the Month” per month.

Recycling Resources
Greene County Convenience Centers accept #1 and #2 plastics, plastic shopping bags, cardboard, newspaper, aluminum cans, used oil, four used tires per year, batteries, metal, used wire (at Afton and West Greene centers only), old furniture, and electronic waste (items plugged into an outlet), as well as household trash. Paint can be taken to the Hal Henard Convenience Center (815 Hal Henard Rd.). Latex can be dried out by mixing with kitty litter or donated.
